The Road to Recovery.

I am a 34 year old female, I have decided to take up running after suffering from illness over the past 3 years. It was triggered by a marriage breakup and stressful job - my thyroid ceased to function and shortly after all the hormones in my body. The doctors couldnt explain it. The endocrinologists just told me to get over it I would never have children. I refused to believe them and continued on the pursuit to recover my health. Due to an intolerance to Thyroxine I was also struggled with my weight and gained 20 kilos in only 6 short months. Thyroxine was making me sick. I finally discovered a Doctor who prescribed alternative thyroid medication and checked me for celiac disease. Well I had celiac specifically the dermatitis related to celiac as well as bowel damage. The doctor told me this caused the thyroid autoimmune problems.
I started a slow recovery on Armour Thyroid and began to build some strength back up by walking. I had lost alot of muscle during the time I used Thyroxine. My hormones started to return to normal and I recovered my female cycle. 1 year later and I have lost half of those 20 kilos and built my strength up from not being able to get off the floor to lifting heavy weights and seeing my biceps reappear. I have been doing some interval training on a treadmill but my leg muscles still require alot of work. I would like to lose the remaining 10kg. So here I am. I also suffered severe depression during the above years and hope to keep that at bay with running. I also realised since I now study full-time and no longer work that I had more time to pursue a hobby. I enjoy running and have been told by trainers in the past that I have the right leg action for running - not really sure what that means. I enjoyed to spasmotically prior to illness.
I like the step by step process of this plan and enjoyed my first outside walk/run today in the crisp Autumn air. I am in no rush and will take it one session at a time.
