You have probably never thought about taking lessons in how to run yet your technique could be the cause of all of the above. If you were seriously taking up golf, tennis or a martial art you wouldn’t consider starting without instruction. Yes I know most of us assume we can all run because it’s just like walking only quicker, it’s only putting one foot in front of the other – right?

Well you would have thought so, but from my own experience and from working with many runners I believe few adults run ‘naturally’, that is, most of us have at least one bad habit interfering with our running. A poor running technique may not be immediately obvious but eventually the aches and pains start to turn into irritating injuries and if you are not careful these turn into great big injuries that stop you running!

Improve Your Running Technique And
Discover Just How Much Further You Can Go...

This program uses a combination of written, audio and video instructions on how to assess and improve your technique. By using my unique procedures you will :-
  • Considerably reduce risk of running injuries
  • Be able to identify and change poor running habits
  • Increase your speed
  • Improve your stamina
  • Enhance overall running peformance
  • Advance your running knowledge
Let's look at an example of running technique and see how this program can make a difference.

running technique

In photo (A) shows a runner with a typical heel to toe foot strike. Notice how the leg is straight when the heel makes contact with the floor. This will not only send the shock directly into your back it also causes you to lose speed as you literally brake each time your foot lands.

Photo (A) also shows the head pulled back by tension in the neck and shoulders. We will discuss the importance of the neck muscles and movement in the program.

The exerices and techniques in my program brought about the changes you can see in photos (B) and (C). Here is a more relaxed upright style with a soft ankle allowing the foot to strike away from the heel. This gives a springier feel to your running so you can get a better kick back from the ground to propel you forward - see photo (C). This significantly reduces the stresses of impact your body experiences with every step you run.

Note: The improvements in the photos above can only be achieved by first addressing your concept of movement, your muscles and effort before attempting to make changes to your running.

Have You Got What It Takes?

correct running technique On an intellectual level I'm sure you can understand the importance of proper running technique, but what happens when you try to apply it on the road? Have you ever watched a video of yourself? Does it look like you? Has a coach or running partner ever mentioned something that you haven't noticed before?

What we feel and what is actually happening are two very different things. There is a considerable barrier that gets in the way of making changes to your technique - it's called habit. How you run now will feel right because it's a habit - you've done it like that for years.

But is it the best way to run? How would you know if you haven't tried another way? When you try to make changes you will still run in a way that feels right because your old habits are still guiding you.

To make real, lasting improvements to your running technique you will need to first go back to the movement basics. Do you know the answers to the questions below?
  • Where does your head sit on your spine?
  • Where are your hip joints?
  • Which muscles lift you legs off the ground?
  • Which muscles keep your torso upright?
  • How do you use gravity to increase your speed?
It may not seem immediately obvious why knowing these answers will help your running, yet all of the above are vital for good technique. I cover these issues and many more in my program.

How I Can Help You

running technique Hi, I'm Roy Palmer and I have been running for over 20 years but it wasn't until I started training to teach The Alexander Technique that I began to understand how I could run intelligently. Like many I assumed it was just about going out, running fast and getting fit, but now I realise running has far much more to offer.

For the last ten years I have been teaching this remarkable technique to athletes from all sports and different abilities. I think of it as adding a whole new dimension to your training so you can become aware of the subtle factors that can lead to poor technique, performance and injury. Too many runners get injured due to running habits they are not aware of - I certainly did!

I can show you how a few small changes to your style can get rid of those annoying injuries plus you will see your performance improve as you eliminate wasted effort by learning efficient technique.

I can achieve this with my program using:-

MP3 Downloads. You can't take your PC or a book on your run, but you can take your mp3 player! I have recorded instructions so you can listen while your run. The audio files include advice about your technique using a mental check list for you to check for common bad habits and how to correct them.

Online Support If at any stage during your training you have any questions or need some help I include unlimited online support so you can contact me anytime to benefit from my experience.

Running Movement Procedures. A step-by-step series of exercises to help you get a better understanding of the 'biomechanics' involved with running. Starting with the basics such as the location of important joints, we then move on to which muscles give you the most efficient return on your effort. In a short time you will be able to apply these lessons to you running and get a totally new experience of movement.

Video Guide. These case studies will help you learn the importance of a good running technique. Find out how to avoid the common pitfalls of running that will lead to injury, poor performances and ultimately frustration. Instead, discover how to develop a style that will take you through years of pain-free running.

Video Analysis (with the Gold Program only). Once you have started training using the methods in this running program you can email a video to me for analysis. This will ensure you have the most efficient technique to increase your enjoyment and benefits you will get from running.

Take Your Running To The Next Level
Go That Extra Mile!

There's a saying that goes, "if you keep doing the same things you will get the same results!" This has to have been written by a runner because it is so relevant to us. If you have reached the limits of your ability using your current running technique nothing will dramatically improve until you step outside of your comfort zone. The biggest hurdle to doing this is your habitual way of running.

Let me show you how to take the next step forward. By the way, if it doesn't make a difference I will give you a full refund.
