Peak Fitness: A Way Of Life
Peak fitness, peak performance, peak experiences and The Zone are all terms used in sport, but what do we actually mean? We are all different, have different abilities, capacities, strengths and weakness. We take part in very different activities, sure a tri-athlete has to be fit, but so does an angler, a business executive, a parent or even a tax inspector!
So fitness is relative to you. What do you want to do? I look at how you can achieve your ambitions and how to get you into the best possible shape to do so. Are you an athlete? What sort of fitness to you require for your sport? Peak fitness for you will be a different requirement compared to a business executive who has to stand on their feet all day making presentations.
Because we are all different and place diverse demands on our bodies it doesn't make sense to waste time on a fitness program that will not ultimately deliver the level of fitness you need for your life.
Not only do we do different activities we all have our own unique way of thinking and moving. The most fundamental aspect in how you perform is habit - the enemy within.

I like to question the accepted wisdom and conventional methods of sports training. I believe many of the current systems around are based on old ways of thinking and do not take into account the latest research in human movement.
This is my thinking on how to achieve peak fitness.
- Conventional exercise programs do not help to achieve peak fitness because they do not change habits.
- Conventional exercise programs use muscles in a way nature did not intend. Your body knows of movement and not muscles. For instance, how often would you perform a movement similar to a sit-up in your sport? Do you need your muscles to be used in this way?
- To achieve peak fitness it is habits that need to be assessed.
- Habits can only be changed through mindful activities where your goal is to learn.
- The activity has to be enjoyable.
- The ultimate state for mindful, enjoyable activity is The Zone.
- My objective is to get you into The Zone!
My programs are unique. I do not tell you to perform repetitions of movements that you would never use in your sport or everyday life. My programs will allow you to develop your skills of awareness and observation by taking you into The Zone. When you can live and perform in The Zone life gets easier once your reliance on old habits can be broken.
In The Zone, peak fitness can become a reality.
Play your sport well and you will get fit! It doesn't have to be repetitive and dull. If you are enjoying what you are doing you double the benefit as the connections from your brain to your muscles are strengthened by your primitive survival mechanisms. After all, fitness is an ability that used to keep us alive long before the gym was invented.
