Jude57runner

(Auburn, CA)

Hi there, I am a mother two very athletic girls, and for some reason it took until they were adults to think about running myself. I can remember following my 15-year old on a cross-country course (running from one good viewpoint to the other) and huffing and puffing trying to get there in time to see her run by! How funny I never thought about getting in shape until now. Well.... I did "think" about it, but never decided to make time for it until now. I have started running on the treadmill at the gym, just finished my first week, walking 3 minutes, running 30 seconds, and so far so good! I did this three times this week in a 20 minute period. So today I'm going to go hoping I can increase the running time to maybe a minute, and then walk every 3 minutes. To all you beginner runners out there that have succeeded and are running continuously now, does this sound like a good plan? I feel like I need to take it slow because I have neck problems and I don't want to jar anything! But otherwise, I think the rest of my body is in fairly good shape. Any advice or feedback is much appreciated!
