Exercise Workouts: Are You Getting The Best Results?
Exercise workouts probably play a large part in your training schedule because you are serious about your training.
But how do you know if the program you follow is right for you? Could your regime be preventing you from performing at your peak?
Or worse - even causing injury?
|
|
Based on ten years of coaching sports people I believe many of today's popular exercise methods deliver results - but at a cost. I see runners who have reached their target time for their race but have reduced mobility in their hip joints. I see people who have achieved a flat stomach but have tightened their backs in the process. I see athletes who have built up their strength in the muscles they need for their sport but have lost their natural coordination. Sadly in all these cases injury was the inevitable outcome.

Taking A Totally New Approach To Fitness And Training
I believe the controlled, repetitive nature of core stability, muscle isolation techniques and many popular exercises may be affecting your quality of movement to the point of restricting performance or even leading to injury? Not to mention taking the enjoyment and spontaneity out of your training.
If you are unsure whether your movement and technique may be leading to injury during your exercise workouts, you might be interested in my latest book, Zone Mind, Zone Body which is, not surprisingly, about The Zone - a term athletes use to describe the almost mystical state when a peak performance feels the easiest thing in the world.
I started to research this fascinating area around 10 years ago. I was curious as to why one day I could run the perfect run 'in The Zone' whilst the next I was totally useless! Working with sports people I realized I wasn't the only one to be frustrated by this phenomenon.
I found one common factor that hugely influenced performance and what really surprised me was that, like myself, not one athlete had been previously aware of it!
