Acupuncture For Neck Pain
A number of studies have shown that acupuncture for neck pain can be effective, although it does depend on the cause of your condition.
These include whiplash and some degenerative neck disorders such as ankylosing spondylosis and cervical spondylosis.
However, many people are put off acupuncture because they assume the needles will hurt.

The needles used in acupuncture are very fine and you will rarely feel anything more than if a fly landed upon your skin. There are a number of different types of acupuncture including the Japanese and Chinese systems plus a number of methods practiced by doctors or physical therapists.
What To Expect At An Acupuncture Session
A good acupuncturist will spend time asking you questions about all aspects of your health. At first you may not think they relate to your neck but remember the condition you are suffering from may have a cause that is not immediately obvious.
Many treatments involve balancing your body's organ functions, such as the liver and stomach, as traditional acupuncture will view a dysfunction of these systems as a possible cause. For this reason don't be surprised if your therapist does not use a needle anywhere near your neck!
A doctor or physical therapist may practice acupuncture based on pain relief and therefore they invariably would look to apply a needle to either the neck or shoulders.
If you are a long term sufferer of a stiff neck then it is well worth finding a qualified acupuncturist in your area as it could be the answer to your problem.
